Our Green Chile Won at the 2026 Big Chili Cook-Off

Our OG Firehouse Chili won the 2026 Big Chili Cook-Off Restaurant Green category, and it is available now at The Lazy Butcher while supplies last.

Evergreen showed up hungry, the tasting spoons got a workout, and we came home with a ribbon we are mighty proud of: The Lazy Butcher won the 2026 Big Chili Cook-Off Restaurant Green category for our OG Firehouse Chili.

The Big Chili Cook-Off Music & Arts Festival is one of those mountain-town days that feels like Evergreen at full volume: Buchanan Park, local cooks, live music, fire department energy, volunteers, families, and a whole lot of chile. The event supports mountain-area volunteer firefighters, and the 2026 festival brought the community together for a full day of tasting and awards.

According to the official 2026 Big Chili award winners, The Lazy Butcher took the green category for restaurants with OG Firehouse Chili. We built it the way we like food around here: honest ingredients, deep flavor, real heat, and enough comfort to make a cold Evergreen night feel handled.

Bring Home The Winning Green Chile

The same housemade green chile from the win is back in the butcher shop while supplies last. Grab a container for dinner, stash one in the freezer, spoon it over eggs, build a burrito, or let it do what green chile does best: make a simple meal taste like somebody cared.

Thank you to everyone who tasted, voted, cheered, volunteered, cooked, judged, and helped make Big Chili such a good day for Evergreen. We are grateful to be part of this community, and even more grateful when the community lets us feed it.
